Ian Burger

Ian is the Head of Responsible Investment at Newton Investment Management; a London-based, active, long-term, global investment manager with assets under management in excess of £46bn (as of 31 March 2021). Ian has overall responsibility for integrating ESG considerations, including corporate governance and wider stewardship matters, throughout Newton’s investment process. He also plays a key role in evolving Newton’s sustainable investment strategies and is a member of the Newton Investment Executive Committee. Outside of Newton, Ian is involved in shaping the debate through his membership and participation in a number of groups such as co-chairing the UK’s GC100 and Investor Group, being a Board Governor and vice chair of the ICGN. Ian is also a member of the PLSA’s Stewardship Advisory Group and is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute. He was honoured to receive the ICSA’s President’s medal at the institute’s 125th anniversary event. Ian is also a charity trustee.
